PRAYER MINISTRY AT the VINEYARD COLUMBIA

This time at the end of each service is an opportunity to recieve prayer from a trained prayer ministry person.

We believe prayer is key in everything that we do at the Vineyard. Further, we believe prayer is not just something we do on our own, but something that we can and should do regularly as we gather with one another.

What do we pray about?
Everything! We pray for healing, blessing, and the goodness of God in people's lives and in all realms-spiritual, emotional and physical. We believe God's kingdom has come near in the person of Jesus, and that His ministry continues through the church. Therefore, we invite the Holy Spirit's presence in our gatherings, and ask Him to give help where it is needed.

How do we pray?
After inviting folks up for prayer, someone who has been trained to pray will come up beside them, and simply lay a hand on their shoulder, and ask what their need is. This is a time for that person to share briefly what is going on, and then the remainder of the prayer time involves the one praying seeking God and asking Him to give them what they need.

Why do we lay our hands on the people we pray for?
The Bible is clear that Jesus laid his hands on people when he prayed for them for healing and to impart spiritual gifts, and he told his followers to do the same (Mark 16:18). So we lay our hands on people when we ask for God's help and healing.
